The name Kushmanda can be split into three parts “Ku”, “ushma” and “anda” which mean “little”, “warmth” and “egg” respectively. She is the reason for our existence and created the universe by making a cosmic egg using her smile. She is believed to be the central source of energy for all living beings and also to have given the direction in which Surya travels.
Devi Kushmanda is the one who is said to have created Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu.
The colour royal blue is worn on this day to symbolize wisdom that comes with age.
