Andal commands Varuna to pour heavy rains in Ayarpadi so that the villagers can have a bounty harvest. The gopika was astonished to see this sight and said “Oh Andal! We are simple gopikas, how can we command Varuna, the god of rain?” Andal calmly replies that, “When you yourself are a part of the Supreme Soul, wouldn’t you command His followers as if they were your own?” We are all directly related to Lord Krishna if we surrender ourselves to Him. Therefore, Varuna would be happy to fulfill our wishes. She further explains how His mercy heals us from our sins. Just the way rain pours on a field and brings a bountiful harvest to the farmers, Lord Krishna will wash out our sins with compassion and give us the divine knowledge.
